Supercomputing

This picture shows a supercomputer complex around 1996. The computers were housed in a large air-conditioned room. Two generations of supercomputers are shown here. The red one on the right is an older version, and it has processing power of few hundred MFLOPS. The blue one on the left is newer and processing power was about a GFLOPS.

These two supercomputer models were replaced by much faster and cheaper one in 1997. The new model is air-cooled about a size of a large refrigerator with processing power close to 2 GFLOPS.

I worked on the following supercomputers:

Digital Productions (1983-1987)

Jet Propulsion Laboratory (1987-1989)

NASA/Ames (1990-1991)

Fujitsu America, Inc. (1992-1997)

If you are interested supercomputing in general, you may ask me by sending me e-mail.
